Abu Dhabi Expands Yas Waterworld With UAE’s Tallest Waterslide

Abu Dhabi continues to strengthen its position as a leading global tourism hub with a major expansion of Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, introducing a new wave of attractions designed to elevate the visitor experience on Yas Island.

Announced by the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the latest development marks a significant milestone in the park’s evolution, further enhancing the emirate’s entertainment offerings and reinforcing its long-term tourism strategy.

A Landmark Addition to the UAE

At the heart of the expansion is the launch of the UAE’s tallest waterslide, “Matamir’s Drop”—a thrilling new attraction featuring a plunge exceeding 40 metres and a slide run stretching 233 metres. This record-breaking addition stands as one of the most ambitious rides introduced to the park to date, promising an adrenaline-filled experience for visitors.

The expansion introduces a total of 11 new attractions, including eight slides, two jumping platforms, and a dedicated lounging pool. With these additions, the total number of experiences at Yas Waterworld now exceeds 70 rides and attractions, significantly expanding its scale within the regional theme park landscape.

Opening Date and Vision

In a statement shared via X, the Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed that the expansion will officially open to visitors on April 4, 2026. The project, developed by Miral, aligns with broader efforts to enhance the entertainment ecosystem of Yas Island.

“The expansion of Yas Waterworld will open to visitors on 4 April 2026… bringing the total number of in-park experiences to more than 70, including the UAE’s tallest waterslide,” the statement noted.

Continuing the “Lost City” Experience

The new phase builds on the park’s existing “Lost City” theme, extending its immersive storytelling concept. By combining narrative-driven design with innovative attractions, the expansion aims to deliver a more engaging and cohesive experience for guests.

This thematic continuity ensures that visitors are not only enjoying rides but also stepping into a world that blends adventure, culture, and imagination.

Yas Island’s Growing Global Appeal

The expansion of Yas Waterworld is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader investment in large-scale tourism infrastructure, positioning Yas Island as a central pillar of the emirate’s entertainment ecosystem.

Already home to globally recognized attractions such as Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, Yas Island has evolved into one of the UAE’s flagship leisure destinations.

The destination continues to attract both international tourists and local residents, offering a diverse mix of entertainment, hospitality, and lifestyle experiences.

A Strategic Move for Tourism Growth

This latest development underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to diversifying its economy and strengthening its tourism sector. By continuously enhancing its attractions and investing in world-class infrastructure, the emirate is solidifying its reputation as a global destination for leisure and entertainment.

As Yas Waterworld prepares to unveil its newest chapter, the expansion reflects not only a growth in scale but also a deepening of experience—where innovation, storytelling, and adventure come together to shape the future of entertainment in the region.
