Katy Perry Launches Lifetimes Tour with Cosmic Energy and Commentary on Her Blue Origin Flight

From space-inspired dance moves to interstellar fashion, the pop icon turns criticism into fuel for a dazzling show, celebrating her journey to space and the power of daring to dream.

Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour Blasts Off with a Space-Age Spectacle and a Personal Message About Her Cosmic Journey

Katy Perry took fans on a truly out-of-this-world experience as she launched her Lifetimes Tour in Mexico City on April 23 — her first major concert since joining an all-female Blue Origin mission earlier this month. The pop star, 40, brought her celestial adventure down to Earth with intergalactic flair, futuristic fashion, and a pointed message about dreaming big — even in the face of criticism.

Performing at the CDMX Arena, Perry rocked a metallic bodysuit and grooved through space-inspired choreography, with dazzling visuals that evoked stars, rockets, and the mystery of the cosmos. Her stage presence radiated the same fearless energy she channeled during her 11-minute suborbital spaceflight on April 14 alongside a historic all-woman crew.

Between songs, Perry addressed the crowd with a wink and a nod to her recent journey. “Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?” she asked, alluding to public reactions — both supportive and skeptical — about her space voyage. She invited two fans in NASA suits onstage, joking, “They are dressed like my most current timeline.”

The Blue Origin mission, which included journalist Gayle King, philanthropist Lauren Sánchez, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, astronaut Amanda Nguyen, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, was more than a publicity stunt. The crew experienced the weightless wonder of space, floating in zero gravity and gazing at the Earth from above. Perry even sang a few bars of “What a Wonderful World” mid-flight — a poetic moment from orbit.

The pop star later reflected on Instagram: “Still processing this incredible journey ✨… One day when you’re older, will YOU still look up in wonder?” She added gratitude for her fellow space travelers, writing, “Thank you @blueorigin and to my space sisters, taking up space AND making room in space for all — 143.”

Yet not everyone was on board. Public figures like Olivia Munn and Olivia Wilde publicly criticized the mission, questioning its purpose. “What are they doing?” Munn asked during an April interview on Today with Jenna and Friends. “There are so many other things that are so important in the world right now.” Wilde’s response was even more blunt, quipping on Instagram Stories, “Billion dollars bought some good memes I guess.”

Despite the backlash, Perry remained unfazed. In a pre-launch interview with ELLE, she emphasized the playful and empowering aspects of the mission: “Space is going to finally be glam. Let me tell you something. If I could take glam up with me, I would do that. We are going to put the ‘ass’ in astronaut.”

Her concert outfits stayed true to that vision — from glimmering, futuristic ensembles to bold, cosmic aesthetics, Perry made it clear: this tour is as much about showmanship as it is about storytelling.

The Lifetimes Tour continues with two more shows in Mexico City before heading to the U.S. in May, Australia in June, and Europe in the fall. As Perry floats forward on a tour filled with spectacle, sass, and space-age spirit, one thing is clear: she’s not just reaching for the stars — she’s bringing her fans along for the ride.
