Emirates Allows Online Flight Rebooking Within 72 Hours

New flexibility helps passengers avoid disruptions and unnecessary airport visits amid schedule changes

Dubai: In response to evolving regional travel conditions and shifting flight schedules, Emirates has introduced a new measure aimed at giving travellers greater flexibility and convenience. Passengers can now rebook their flights online within 72 hours of their original departure time, allowing them to adjust travel plans without needing to visit the airport.

The initiative is designed to minimise disruptions and reduce unnecessary travel to airport terminals during periods of operational changes. Passengers can manage their bookings easily through the Manage Your Booking section on the Emirates website or via the airline’s mobile application, where they can select alternative travel dates and review updates to their itinerary from anywhere.

For travellers who wish to change their flights earlier than 72 hours before departure, the airline has advised contacting its support team directly. Assistance is available through the airline’s online support channels or through private direct messaging options for quicker response.

Limited Flight Operations Continue

Following the partial reopening of regional airspace, Emirates is currently operating a limited number of flights while gradually restoring normal services. Passengers are strongly encouraged to check the latest schedules regularly and secure seats in advance where possible.

The airline reiterated that the safety and security of passengers and crew remain its highest priority, particularly as regional conditions continue to evolve.

Travel Updates Across the Region

The announcement comes amid wider aviation adjustments affecting travel routes in the region. Airlines have been adapting their operations, including route changes and limited schedules. For example, Air India and Air India Express recently cancelled several UAE-bound flights on March 15 while maintaining limited services on the Delhi–Dubai route.

Similarly, Qatar Airways announced it would operate a limited number of flights to and from Doha while regional airspace restrictions remain in place. Meanwhile, the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi has also issued travel updates for citizens travelling between the UAE and India.

What Passengers Should Do Before Travelling

Emirates is advising passengers to remain vigilant and prepared before their journeys. Travellers should check their flight status regularly—even after checking in—and monitor updates on the airline’s official website.

Passengers are also urged to ensure that their contact information is up to date so they can receive timely notifications regarding any schedule changes, delays, or cancellations.

Options for Disrupted Flights

For flights affected between February 28 and March 31, Emirates has outlined several options for passengers.

If a flight has been disrupted, the airline will attempt to automatically rebook passengers on the next available service, including connecting journeys beyond Dubai. Travellers who are satisfied with the new itinerary do not need to take further action.

However, those wishing to choose a different flight can do so through the online booking management system, the Emirates mobile app, or by contacting their travel agent.

Passengers with cancelled connecting flights in Dubai are advised not to travel to the airport until their booking has been successfully rebooked.

Rebooking and Refund Options

Passengers can change their flights to travel on or before April 30, 2026, depending on availability. Online modifications are available if the travel date falls within 72 hours of departure.

When making changes, travellers should remember to update additional services, including seat selection, special dietary meals, and Chauffeur-drive arrangements where applicable.

For passengers who prefer refunds, tickets booked directly through Emirates can be refunded via the airline’s online refund form. Tickets purchased through travel agents must be processed by the respective agents.

Manage Your Booking Online

Through the airline’s online tools and mobile app, passengers can:

  • Review changes to their itinerary
  • Accept or select alternative flights
  • Update services such as meals, seating, and Chauffeur-drive
  • Make up to nine changes under the travel waiver, valid until April 30
  • Update contact details for travel notifications

Staying Safe Online

Emirates has also issued a reminder regarding online safety. Passengers should avoid sharing booking references, contact details, or personal information in public posts or replies, as such details may be misused by fraudsters. Instead, travellers are encouraged to communicate privately with the airline through direct messaging channels.

Gradual Return to Normal Operations

As airspace conditions continue to stabilise, Emirates is gradually restoring its flight network while maintaining strict safety protocols. The airline says flexible booking options and digital services are part of its commitment to ensuring passengers can travel with confidence, convenience, and minimal disruption.
